11/1/2001 12:00:00 AM | MEN'S BASKETBALL
CHICAGO -- DePaul will open the exhibition portion of the 2001-02 season tonight but it will do so without Sam Hoskin who will sit out tonight's contest against the EA Sports All-Stars (7:30 p.m. - DePaul Athletic Center) after suffering a concussion in practice last Friday.
"We are holding Sam out of tonight's game as a precaution," DePaul head coach Pat Kennedy said. "He suffered the concussion last week and we just want to make sure that he is O.K. before he gets back out on the court. We hope Sam will be able to play in our final exhibition game on Sunday."
Hoskin, a 6-9 junior from Detroit, is in his first season with the Blue Demons after playing at Schoolcraft Community College last season where he was second in the nation in scoring and eighth in rebounding after averaging 24 points and just over 10 rebounds.
After tonight, the Blue Demons will play the Illinois All-Stars on Sunday at the Athletic Center before opening the regular season in the first round of the Preseason NIT on Monday, November 12 against Fordham at the Rockford MetroCentre.
