Hoskin Pushes DePaul Past Fordham

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Sam Hoskin made a favorable impression in his first DePaul game and the Blue Demons survived a cold-shooting night and beat Fordham 70-61 in the opening round of the Preseason NIT on Monday at the MetroCentre.
Hoskin, who came to DePaul this season from Schoolcraft Junior College, tossed in a game-high 26 points (including a 9-11 performance from the free throw line) while grabbing six rebounds in just 29 minutes of action.
Lance Williams added 16 points and nine rebounds while Andre Brown posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Imari Sawyer dished out a game-high eight assists while committing just one turnover.
The Blue Demons shot only .351 (26-74) from the field, including a 3-27 (.111) performance from three-point land but held the Rams to .383 (23-60) from the field and .000 (0-10) from three-point range.
DePaul advances to the second round of the NIT on Wednesday when it will face Syracuse at the Carrier Dome in a game which will be televised by ESPN2 at 6 p.m. (CST).
