Syracuse Stops DePaul's NIT Run

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse used a 16-3 run in the second half to score a 74-60 win over DePaul in the second round of the Preseason NIT on Wednesday at the Carrier Dome.
The Blue Demons trailed 33-26 at halftime and were able to get within three at 42-39 with 14:54 left, but then Syracuse used their run to pull away and beat DePaul for the second consecutive season.
DePaul, which fell to 1-1, was led by Imari Sawyer’s 16 points while Sam Hoskin added 13 and Andre Brown (5-5 from the floor) finished with 10. The Orangemen were led by DeShaun Williams’s 25 points while Kueth Duany added 17 points and 12 rebounds.
DePaul will be in action again on Sunday, November 25 when Youngstown State comes to the Allstate Arena for the 2001-02 home opener at 2 p.m. (WSCR 670-AM).
