DePaul Tops TCU, 3-1

FORT WORTH, Texas -- First collegiate goals by three different players, including two in the last 12 minutes propelled the men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory on Thursday afternoon at TCU. Claudio Ferre, Bob Kruse and Chris Marinelli scored for the Blue Demons while keeper Jash Chavero turned in a solid performance with 10 saves.
After the two teams played a scoreless first half, Nick Brown scored the match's first goal for the Horned Frogs at 66:44. The lead was short-lived as Marinelli tallied his first collegiate goal two minutes later to even the match at 1-1.
The scored remained at 1-1 until Kruse dented the net for his first collegiate score at 78:25. Kruse took a pass from Chris Greer and scored the eventual game-winner past TCU keeper Michael Lahoud.
Ferre sealed the win for the Blue Demons with his first collegiate goal in the 89th minute for the 3-1 final score. Greer was credited with his second assist of the day on the Ferre score.
With the win, the Blue Demons improve to 3-12-2 overall and 2-5-2 in Conference USA matches. The final match of the season will be Saturday night at Memphis.
