PHILADELPHIA -- Sam Hoskin's tip-in with 2.1 seconds left lifted DePaul to a 60-58 upset win over Temple on Saturday.
Temple's Kevin Lyde made one of two free throws with 10.1 seconds left to tie the game at 58. Imari Sawyer then drove the length of the court and missed a runner but Hoskin tipped in the rebound for the win. The Blue Demons have won three straight.
Freshman Quemont Greer had a season-high 25 points and Hoskin had 11 rebounds for the Blue Demons (6-4), who also beat Temple in the final seconds last year when Joe Tulley made a 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds left for a 65-64 win.
David Hawkins tied a career-high with 22 points, Lyde and Lynn Greer each scored 10 and Ron Rollerson had a season-high 11 rebounds and a career-high five blocks for the Owls (3-7), who were 22-of-76 (29 percent) from the field.
Temple, which has lost five in a row, took its first lead of the game when Lynn Greer sank a 3-pointer just after halftime to make it 35-33. The Owls led by as many as five, 57-52, but DePaul scored eight of the last nine in the final three minutes, including the final tip-in.
The Blue Demons led by as many as 11 in the first half, but Temple ended the half with a 17-7 run to cut the deficit to one point at halftime.
DePaul will be in action again on December 29 when eighth-ranked Missouri comes to the United Center for a 1 p.m. contest.
