"We really took control of the match", said Coach Dockstader. "I felt like we really bounced back after a disappointing match on Friday."
With Katie Engel on the court, DePaul was unbeatable.; Engel produced an exceptional hitting average of .520 with 16 kills and just three errors out of 25 attempts. The standout outside also performed defensively, adding six digs to her records. To top it off, Engel served for two aces against the Pirates.
"Engel was unstoppable tonight,"Â said Dockstader.
The rest of the Blue Demons were also nothing short of extraordinary. Cheryl Przychodni stayed strong up front hitting nine kills and earning a hitting percentage of .571. Lara Marks was also a force at the net putting away nine kills and hitting a .412. Also in the middle was Janet Goreham who hit at .500.Goreham had eight kills and three service aces. Janet Cotter led aggressively at the line serving up four aces to the Pirates. Consistently dishing out the ball was Amie West who gave 32 assists to her teammates.
It's always good to get a win on the road, we needed that. We need to take this and run with it into next weekend against Tulane and Southern Miss.
The Blue Demons stay home next weekend to host a pair of conference matches against Tulane and Southern Miss.
