CHICAGO - After a disappointing loss to UW-Green Bay on Tuesday, DePaul returns to conference play this weekend. The Blue Demons head to Memphis to play the Tigers on Friday night then it’s off to Saint Louis on Saturday night to battle the Billikens.
Head Coach Dawn Dockstader and her team are hopeful for an improvement in their conference record of 1-5.
"I’m looking forward to this road trip. We’ve always enjoyed playing at Memphis and Saint Louis. I expect us to play hard, play together, and play to win."
Scouting Report
Memphis is coached by Carrie Yerty. Currently, their record stands at 15-10, 0-5 C-USA. Last month, the Tigers swept the Yale University Tournament and the New England Challenge coming away with the crown at each. The statistics point to three offensive threats on the Tiger squad: Brittany Barnett, Tiara Gilkey, and Nancy Nellans. In their three game sweep Tuesday against Arkansas State, Barnett posted 10 kills, Gilkey notched 11, while Nellans put in 12 for the team. Defensively, the Tigers are led by Lauren Berg and Heather Watts whose efforts have chalked up 299 and 268 digs this season. Watts also sets for Memphis and dished out 37 earlier this week in the team’s win against Arkansas State.
Saint Louis is coached by Marilyn Nolen in her ninth season with team. Their current record is 14-8, 4-2 C-USA. Big hitters for the Billikens include Colleen Hunter, Brooke Minniear, and Ember Knobeloch. Hunter racked up 17 kills their match against UAB on Tuesday and earned a hitting percentage of .302. She also leads her team in blocks with 119 so far this season. Beth Middendorf has set for most of the season for the Billikens. She has posted 808 total assists.
The matches begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
