CHICAGO – The Blue Demons suffered a conference loss on Friday night to Memphis dropping to thirteenth place in the Conference USA standings. Despite a great match from Lara Marks, DePaul couldn’t pull together to stop the Tigers (30-25, 30-26, 30-22).
Brittany Barnett and Tiara Gilkey split the hitting duties for Memphis to top the Blue Demons. Gilkey posted 16 kills and earned a .444 hitting percentage. Barnett gave 12 kills to help shut out the Blue Demons. The Tigers out-hit DePaul 47 to 39.
Lara Marks gave her all against the Tigers, notching 14 kills and posting a .565 attack percentage. Even with Marks’ great performance, the Blue Demons lacked the attitude and will demonstrated by the Tigers.
“We need to refocus for Saint Louis,” said Coach Dawn Dockstader.
The Blue Demons head to Saint Louis on Saturday to play their second conference match of the weekend.
