CHICAGO – Despite 16 kills from Katie Engel and 14 from Lara Marks, the Blue Demons lost to Louisville on Saturday night in four grueling games (30-16, 26-30, 30-22, 30-26). The Cardinals improved their record to 12-3, (3-0 C-USA) with the help of Bing Sun who tallied 22 kills.
DePaul undoubtedly stepped up their game against the number one ranked team in the conference. After a disheartening loss in game one, the Blue Demons came back stronger and smarter in game two to outdo Louisville.
“I was pleased with Lara Marks and Katie Engel offensively and defensively,” said Coach Dockstader.
Marks gave five blocks and 12 digs to the team and Engel racked up 13 digs of her own.
“Tonight was definitely a better effort but I’m not even close to being satisfied and neither should my team. We have a lot of work to do this week but only one day to get ready for UIC and then one day to get ready for an important weekend of conference play.”
The Blue Demons head to UIC on Tuesday, October 8 and then a weekend trip takes them to Charlotte and East Carolina on October 11 and 12, respectively.
