CHICAGO – The Blue Demons head across town to play the Flames of UIC on Tuesday night at 7p.m. DePaul is looking to redeem themselves after two tough conference losses to Cincinnati and Louisville last weekend. The Blue Demon squad will back up middle Lara Marks who is ranked in the top ten in Conference USA for hitting percentage (.333) and in blocks (1.11per/gm).
Cross-Town Rivalry
“Whenever we play a local team, a rivalry naturally develops. We’re vary familiar with each other’s programs,” said Coach Dockstader. “It’s one of those games that you throw out your records because you’re always going to battle. Whether we see UIC in the regular season or the spring season, we always have a good match.”
UIC
UIC is coached by Don August in his 22nd season. A 14-5 season has won them the UIC Invitational as well as the Fairfield Tournament in Fairfield, Conn. The Flames have a well-balanced offense with Teaha Shepperd, Lindsey Filkins, Lara Clarkson, and Gina Caneva all contributing big hitting numbers. Shepperd posted 19 kills in both the Butler and WSU matches last weekend. In the WSU match, Clarkson racked up 20 digs and 14 kills. The Flames offense is quarterbacked by Meghan Keck whose efforts have tallied 812 assists this season.
