CHICAGO – The Blue Demons dropped a match to TCU Saturday night after battling the Horned Frogs for five games (30-25, 19-30, 26-30, 30-20, 15-12). The loss marks DePaul’s last home match of the regular conference season.
The Blue Demon’s efforts were led by senior Katie Engel who had an amazing match putting away 25 kills and posting 14 digs while hitting an attack percentage of .302.
“Katie really came out to play and did a great job tonight,” said Dockstader. “She played her heart out like she has all season for us.”
Lara Marks added 17 kills and 21 digs along with three blocks. Amie West delivered 56 assists to her offense.
With DePaul’s conference record dropping to 1-9, the Blue Demons will have to scratch and claw their way into the C-USA tournament.
Currently in thirteenth place, DePaul must battle to get into the top 12 to gain rights into the tournament.
“We’ve got our backs up against a wall and we need to come out fighting,” said Dockstader. “We need to fight our way into the tournament.”
The Blue Demons hit the road next weekend to face South Florida and UAB.
