CHICAGO – In efforts to keep the DePaul volleyball tradition alive, Coach Dawn Dockstader and her staff have signed four regional high school standouts. The class includes Denae Gibson from Wabash, Ind., Morgan Ingersoll from Chicago, Jamie Klosterman from Celina, Ohio, and Alyson Zavitz from Normal, Ill.
“Our '03 class is the most talented class we have ever recruited here to DePaul. I believe they will immediately push the returners and take our program to the next level,” says Dockstader. “They come from winning high school programs and fully expect to help DePaul win another conference championship. They look forward to being on the floor as freshmen, they are fearless and are just what we need right now.”
Kelly “Denae” Gibson
Gibson is a 6’1” middle blocker who attends high school at Southwood. The Wabash, Ind. native is also a member of the Fort Wayne Volleyball club.
“Denae is the most physically dominating middle blocker we have ever recruited here to DePaul. She has a “take-no-prisoners” attitude to go along with her aggressive style of play. I expect Denae to compete right away for one of the starting middle blocker positions.”
Morgan Ingersoll
The Chicago native will bring her experience at the outside hitter position to the Blue Demon program. A 6’1” student at Mother McAuley High School, Ingersoll plays for Lions Jrs. during her off-season.
“Morgan’s experience on the left and right side will put her in contention for playing time right away. She comes from one of the most successful high school programs in the country. She knows what it takes to win.”
Jamie Klosterman
Klosterman is a student at Celina High School and is a native of Celina, Ohio. Her 5’11” frame plays both at the outside hitter and defensive specialist positions. Klosterman also played for Team Atlantis.
“Jamie’s overall athletic ability and enthusiasm will add depth right away to our defense and ball control. She is also a very gifted student. She is 2nd in her class of 303 students.”
Alyson Zavitz
The right-side hitter from Normal West High School is also a staple on her club team, Illinois Jrs. Zavitz stands at 6’2” and is from Normal, Ill.
“Aly’s size and athletic ability will make her a force on the right side for years to come. Aly has so much potential; I am excited to start working with her.”
