Demons Dispose Of Central Michigan

ROSEMONT, Ill. – DePaul’s home opener was a smashing success as the Blue Demons had five players score in double figures to key a 92-56 win over Central Michigan on Saturday at the Allstate Arena.
The Blue Demons moved to 2-0 while the Chippewas fell to 2-1.
Delonte Holland led DePaul with 20 points on 7-8 shooting from the floor, 1-1 from 3pt. range and 5-5 from the free throw line. Drake Diener added 16 points (including four 3pt. field goals) and a team-high six assists while Sam Hoskin scored 17. Joe Tulley and Quemont Greer each added 12 for DePaul.
Central Michigan was paced by Kevin Nelson’s 13 points. The Chippewas’ leading scorer and rebounder Chris Kaman was limited to six points and three rebounds.
DePaul broke the game open early by scoring the first five points of the contest and racing out to a 16-2 lead in the first 4:31 of the contest. The lead grew to as much as 27 at 46-19 before the Blue Demons took a 48-22 edge into the locker room at halftime.
The final half was much of the same as DePaul increased the advantage to as much as 39 on two occasions.
Notes:
DePaul’s Andre Brown made his 2002-03 debut after missing the first game with a knee injury. He scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 24 minutes of play… Joe Tulley moved into a tie for 10th place on DePaul’s all-time 3pt. field goal list. He now has 92 career treys, tying him with Rashon Burno.
