Men's Soccer Travels to UW-Green Bay

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s soccer steps out of Conference USA play for a Wednesday night match at Wisconsin-Green Bay. The Blue Demons and Phoenix kick off at 7 p.m. in Green Bay. DePaul has won four of their last five matches to improve to 5-7-0 overall while the Phoenix enter the match at 2-7-1. In their last meeting in 2002, the Blue Demons posted a 3-1 win at the Panther Invitational in Milwaukee, Wis.
Noting the Blue Demons
Over the last five matches, the Blue Demons have posted four victories… the lone loss was a 1-0 decision to No. 5 Saint Louis… Luke Rojo leads the club with 10 points on four goals and two assists while Edwin Arreola has tallied seven points on three scores and a helper… Rojo is currently tied for 14th on DePaul’s all-time scoring list with 33 career points (12G, 9A)… the Blue Demons and their opponents have each taken 112 shots, but DePaul has been outscored, 15-9… over the last five matches, the Blue Demons have tallied five goals while allowing just one… they also have 74 corner kicks compared to just 34 combined for the opponents… Wednesday’s match is the first of two remaining non-conference matches… the Blue Demons finish the non-conference schedule at Wisconsin on Oct. 22… head coach Craig Blazer is in his third season with the Blue Demons.
In the Hunt
DePaul currently stands in seventh place in the Conference USA standings with a 2-2-0 record. The top six teams qualify for the league’s tournament at Memphis in November. The Blue Demons can control their own destiny as they finish the season with five of their last six games against C-USA teams – including matches against Cincinnati, Charlotte and UAB, who are currently ahead of DePaul in the standings.

Scouting the Phoenix
UW-Green Bay has dropped their last four matches to stand at 2-7-1 overall and 0-3-0 in Horizon League play… Kyle Sillars, Lorcan Cronin and Adam Schmitt have each scored two goals to lead the team… as a team, the Phoenix have scored six goals while allowing 25… head coach Quinn Ross is in his seventh season at UW-Green Bay.
What Lies Ahead
DePaul returns home this weekend when they host the Charlotte 49ers at Wish Field. The match, originally schedule for a noon kickoff, has been moved up to an 11:30 a.m. start. Following the Charlotte match, the Blue Demons play the final non-conference match of the regular season at Wisconsin on Oct. 22 before returning home to play UAB on Oct. 25.
