NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Blue Demons fell to Conference USA opponent Tulane in four games (30-22, 24-30, 27, 30. 30-32) Saturday evening on the road. DePaul falls to 10-13 and 2-4 C-USA, while, Tulane improves to 20-2 and 6-0 C-USA.
The Blue Demons won game-one in convincing fashion, 30-22. “We came out focused and ready to play,” Head Coach Dawn Dockstader said. “We took the first game and had the momentum which is hard to do on the road. However, Tulane settled into the match, and we did not. We have to work harder to hold onto the tempo instead of letting the match slip away, as we did tonight.”
The Blue Demons would drop games two and three, but they would fight back in game- four facing match point at 29-27. However, the Blue Demons could not hold onto the lead and lost game-four and the match 30-32.
DePaul saw a great outing from junior, Amy Holmes. Holmes notched 16 kills for a .371 hitting percentage and 18.5 points. Holmes also got down on 22 digs.
Defensively the Blue Demons out blocked the Green Waves 15 to 11.
The Blue Demons will continue their conference schedule next weekend. DePaul will host Saint Louis and Memphis October 24th and 25th. Saturday the Blue Demons will welcome back former DePaul volleyball players for Alumni Night. Both matches will begin at 7:00 pm at the DePaul Athletic Center.
