DePaul Falls to Saint Louis

CHICAGO – The Blue Demon volleyball squad fell to Conference USA rival, Saint Louis in five games (23-30, 30-26, 30-24, 26-30, 12-15), Friday evening at the DePaul Athletic Center. DePaul falls to 10-14 on the season and 2-5 in C-USA, while, Saint Louis goes to 5-15 and 1-5 in C-USA.
The Blue Demons hit a .207 hitting percentage and saw four players reach double digit kill totals. Sophomore Mandy Moorberg led the Blue Demons with a season high 22 kills. Defensively Amy Holmes led with 22 digs while Janet Goreham had five block assists.
DePaul came out slow in game one, losing 23-30. They would fight back in game-two beating the Billikens 30-26 and holding them to a .143 hitting percentage.
The Blue Demons came back from the break to go down by as many as seven points in game-three. DePaul would take the lead at 22-21 on a kill by middle, Lara Marks. The Blue Demons would never look back, winning game-three 30-24.
Games four and five were close games and saw five tie scores and the lead change hands six times. The Blue Demons would lose both games and the match.
Alex Cooley lead Saint Louis with 17 kills and a .412 hitting percentage.
The Blue Demons will be back in action Saturday, October 25th at 7:00pm when they face off against C-USA foe Memphis at home.
