Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season at Home

CHICAGO- Friday, November 14 will mark the last time three senior Blue Demons will players take the floor at the DePaul Athletic Center. The DePaul Blue Demons (11-18, 3-9 C-USA) will close out their regular season tonight, taking on the Golden Eagles of Marquette (11-15, 7-5 C-USA) at 7:00pm.
A win tonight will secure the Blue Demons a place in the Conference USA Tournament next weekend in New Orleans. The top 12 teams in the conference are invited to the tournament, battling for the leagues automatic NCAA tournament bid. Nine teams, including Marquette have already clinched spots in the tournament; however the final three spots are still up for grabs between DePaul, TCU, Saint Louis, East Carolina and Charlotte.
The Blue Demons will say good-bye to seniors Janet Cotter, Meg Griffin and Lara Marks. The three were members of the 2001 team that won the C-USA Tournament and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Marks will finish her career second on DePaul’s list of career assists tallying 345; she is also fifth in solo blocks recording 89.
Marquette comes to Chicago with hopes of keeping their six match winning streak alive. The Golden Eagles are lead by sophomore Theresa Coughlin. Coughlin nets 4.23 kills per game and a .258 attack percentage. Dishing the ball is setter Gemma Greer; she averages 12.30 assists per game.
Sunday, November 16th the C-USA pairings will be announced at 11:00am.
