Volleyball Falls in Final Home Match

CHICAGO- The DePaul volleyball team fell in their final, regular season match Friday evening to Marquette at the DePaul Athletic Center. The Golden Eagles defeated the Blue Demons in three-games 30-21, 30-13 and 30-24. The DePaul falls to 11-19 overall and 3-10 in Conference USA play, while, Marquette improves to 12-15 overall and 8-5 in C-USA.
“Marquette had a flawless performance this evening,” Head Coach Dawn Dockstader said. “We had a hard time getting anything started, and when we did in the third game, it was too late.”
The Blue Demons lost games one and two, but came back from the break ready to make a run.
DePaul came alive in game three. DePaul would go on an 11-4 run pulling within four points, but it was too late and the Golden Eagles closed out the game and the match 30-24.Janet Cotter knocked down 4 kills and two blocks while freshman Morgan Ingersoll added two kills.
For the match, seniors Lara Marks, Janet Cotter and Meg Griffin combined for 19 of the teams 34 kills and ten of the team 14 total blocks.
For Marquette Erin Freer and Ann Lopata led the team with 14 kills apiece. Setter Gemma Geer fed 39 of the teams 53 assists.
The Blue Demons will await the Conference USA pairings on Sunday November 16th, which will determine their next match.
