Volleyball “Sets” Three for 2004
CHICAGO- DePaul Head Volleyball Coach Dawn Dockstader announced today the signing of three players to a national letter-of-intent. DePaul signed three Illinois natives, Mandi Caputo from Chicago, Stacy Pando of Bloomingdale and Maureen Zigulich from Burbank, Illinois.
“These three women are talented players, who will compete for playing, time right away,” Dockstader said.
Caputo a 5-8 setter, from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in Westchester, will look to see time at the setter position. “Mandi is one of the best setter’s in the area. I am impressed with how well she runs the floor and her team; she is a floor general.”
At the end of the 2003 high school volleyball season, Caputo was named the MVP of Girls Catholic Athletic Conference.
Pando 5-11, a native of Bloomingdale and a senior at Drexel Catholic, will compete for time in the Middle. “Stacy is extremely athletic, she has and incredible work ethic that can be seen on the court and in the classroom,” Dockstader said. “She has a court personality that is conducive to a great college player; she is competitive but knows how to have fun. She welcomes a challenge and will excel at the college level.
Zigulich a 5-5 libero, from Queen of Peace High School, will look for time at the libero position. “We are excited to have a true libero coming to DePaul,” Dockstader said. “She is trained at that position and will challenge right away for playing time.”
The Blue Demons open their season on September 1, at the DePaul Athletic Center against Chicago State at 7:00 p.m.
