Blue Demons Split Between Two Meets

CHICAGO – On Friday and Saturday, the men’s track and field team will be separated in order to represent DePaul at both the Lewis Invitational in Romeoville, Ill. and the Iowa State Track Classic in Ames, Iowa.
Traveling to Romeoville will be Rob Reed to compete in the weight throw and also the shot put with Michael Horrigan.
In the long jump, Webster Jones will take over the duties at Lewis. Cornelius Sams will take on the 55-meter hurdles while Eric Harlan will run the 55-meter dash. Rick Britton will run the mile as Tom Kacprzynski and Mitch Melton race in the 400-meter dash.
In the 800-meter run, Armando Aguirre will compete before sprinters Harlan, Melton and Sams run the 200-meter dash in their second event of the day.
The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the weight throw.
Field events and one sprint will take place on Friday night at the Iowa State Track Classic. Jarrod Jahnke will partake in the weight throw and Rashard Deleston will enter the long jump. Immediately after, Larry Inanga and Siddiqu Muhhamad will sprint in the 200-meter dash.
On Saturday, day two of the Iowa State Track Classic, Kim Trieu will pace himself in the 3000-meter run as will Donnie Warner in the mile. Salvador Andrade and Michael Scafide will run 800 meters and Kai Murray will run in the 600-meter dash.
Doug Bohr and Inanga will also sprint as they’ll battle for the front of the pack in the 400-meter dash. Inanga took first place in the 400 in DePaul’s last meet at the Smith Barney Invitational with a time of 48.86.
Ben Cooke will represent DePaul in the 800-meter run. The Blue Demons will also submit a 4x400 relay team including Muhammad, Deleston, Inanga, and Scafide.
Gavin Kennedy and Luis Samayoa will run in a second round of the 3000-meter run.
The meet stretches two days, starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and ending after the 4x400 meter relay at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.
