Baumgarten Caps Career with 19-Spot Climb in Fayetteville

BIG EAST Champion closes career among West Region’s top hurdles
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After entering the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds ranked 46th in the region, Helen Baumgarten closed her collegiate career Thursday night with one of the biggest climbs in the field at the University of Arkansas' John McDonnell Field.
Fresh off her 2026 BIG EAST title in the women's 100m hurdles, Baumgarten crossed in 13.48 to place fifth in her heat and 27th overall in the West Region. She improved 19 spots from her regional ranking entering the meet while finishing just .01 seconds shy of matching her career best.
Baumgarten's final race came less than two weeks removed from her conference title performance in Storrs, where she captured BIG EAST gold in the 100m hurdles with a 13.62 to help lead the DePaul women to a runner-up finish at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. She also helped lead DePaul's women's 4x100 relay team to a BIG EAST title and school-record 44.83 alongside Nevaeh Lowe, Claire Dunn and Sade Miller.
