Men's Soccer Opens C-USA Schedule

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s soccer team travels to Milwaukee, Wis., for their first Conference USA match of the season against Marquette.  The Blue Demons enter the contest at 1-2-0 while the Golden Eagles stand at 1-3-0.  The Golden Eagles have won the last three meetings between the two clubs.

Noting the Blue Demons

Luke Rojo has the only DePaul goal this season… the Blue Demons have outshot their opponents, 36-24… they also have 16 corner kicks compared to just four combined for the opponents… Wednesday is DePaul’s first night game of the season and first road game… their two matches to open the season were on a neutral field at Northwestern… head coach Craig Blazer is in his third season with the Blue Demons.

Scouting Marquette

The Golden Eagles enter Wednesday’s match at 1-3-0… they have been outscored 15-3 in the four non-conference matches… Marquette opened the season with a win over Denver before dropping matches to Air Force, Illinois-Chicago and Oakland… the DePaul match is their first Conference USA tilt of the season… Blair Kohlmeyer leads the club with four points on a pair of goals… head coach Steve Adlard is in his 11th season at Marquette.

What Lies Ahead

DePaul returns to where they started the season at Northwestern.  The Blue Demons are one of four teams competing this weekend at the Lakefront Classic in Evanston.  DePaul takes on Lafayette on Friday at 1:30 p.m. followed by Northwestern and Eastern Illinois.  The Blue Demons play host Northwestern on Sunday at 4 p.m. following the match between Lafayette and Eastern Illinois.

On Sept. 23, the Blue Demons take on neighborhood foe Loyola at 7 p.m. at the Loyola Soccer Park.  The next home match is set for Sept. 27 when the club hosts the neighbors to the south, Illinois-Chicago.
