Volleyball Falls in Five to Louisiana Tech

Game one was all about teamwork. The Blue Demons came out slow and went down 1-10 but were able to fight their way back to a tie at 21 all. The Blue Demons would then take the lead 24-23 when sophomore Mandy Moorberg was able tip the ball over into uncovered Techster territory. DePaul went on to win the game one 30-27.
DePaul was able to stay in rallies and get the ball on the wood in game one. Moorberg had seven digs and five kills in game one.
Louisiana Tech and DePaul went point for point in game two, but the Blue Demons were unable to pull out the win. The Blue Demons lost a close game two, 28-30. The Techsters controlled game three winning 30-21.
The Blue Demons were able to bounce back in game four, fighting for every point. DePaul tied the game at 17 and never looked back. They controlled the ball and won 30-28. The foursome of Meg Griffin, Lara Marks, Janet Goreham and Janet Cotter all had block assists in game four.
With the win on the line the tension was high for game five. The Blue Demons were able to pull ahead 12-10 but could not hold onto the lead. DePaul would face match point twice in game five but were unable to capitalize and lost the game and match 15-17.
“We have to win matches like this one tonight,” Head Coach Dawn Dockstader said. "We are too good of the team to lose in that situation. We were unable in game five to make our serves and finish through on our attacks."
“Louisiana Tech is a very good team but so are we; we are capable of winning that match but we could not finish in game five,” Dockstader added.
