CHICAGO – The Blue Demons fell in the match of the Blue Demon Invitational on Saturday evening. The University of Tennessee Lady Vols defeated DePaul in three-games (25-30, 28-30, 24-30). The Blue Demons fall to 6-7 on the season while the Lady Vols go to 10-2.
“Tennessee is a good team. They are as good of a team that we will face this season,” Head Coach Dawn Dockstader said. “Everyone needed to bring their ‘a-game’ to the match this evening and they did not. We need better performances from our outside hitters.”
The Blue Demons fell in straight games but did not go down without a fight. DePaul had impressive performances from middles, Lara Marks and Janet Goreham. Goreham had 10 kills and owned .368 hitting percentage. Marks recorded seven kills and three block assists.
“We need to use this match as a learning experience,” Dockstader added. The Blue Demons will be back in action Tuesday at home against Valparaiso. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
