DePaul comes into this week 6-7 after going 2-2 last week. On Tuesday, September 16th the Blue Demons extinguished the Illinois-Chicago Flames in convincing style (30-23, 30-14, 30-18). Holding UIC to only 14 points in game one was the lowest point total the Blue Demons has held an opponent. DePaul has held their opponent to under 20 points in a single game on seven occasions.

DePaul avenged an earlier loss to IUPUI in their first Saturday match at the Blue Demon Invitational. DePaul won the match in four-games (30-22, 30-19, 25-30, 30-23). Five Blue Demons, Janet Cotter, Meg Griffin, Mandy Moorberg, Janet Goreham and Lara Marks had double digits kills. The threesome of West, Moorberg and Amy Holmes all had double digs games for the match. Moorberg led DePaul in both categories knocking down 19 kills and 14 digs. As a team the Blue Demons hit .325, 71 kills, 58 digs and nine blocks.

As a team DePaul leads C-USA in blocks per game with 2.63. Senior Lara Marks leads the Blue Demons with 62 blocks averaging 1.37 blocks per game. Junior Janet Goreham is not far behind blocking 43 balls on the season.
Getting Down on the Ball
As a team DePaul is second in the conference in digs per game. On average, DePaul is getting down on 17.50 balls per game. There are five Blue Demons that have 100 or more digs for the season, Janet Cotter (156), Ellen Hayes (152), Amy Holmes (142), Mandy Moorberg (131), and Amie West (123).
Balls on the Wood
DePaul has been successful this season attacking the ball. As a team they hold a .248 hitting percentage, while holding their opponents to only a .191 hitting percentage. DePaul owns 756 kills on the season.
Last week against UIC the Blue Demons hit a .434 as a team. The last time a DePaul team hit over .400 was against
Junior Janet Goreham leads the Blue Demons and ranks third in C-USA with a .348 hitting percentage. Goreham has 103 kills on the season and only 22 errors. Senior Janet Cotter leads the Blue Demons in total kills recording 161 kills while Mandy Moorberg trails her with 160 kills.
Honor Roll
August 31, at the Morehead State Invitational, senior middle Lara Marks was named to the All-Tournament Team.
September 6, at the Illini Classic senior outside hitter Janet Cotter was named to the All-Tournament Team. She tallied 29 kills and 37 digs on the weekend.
September 13, at the Drake Bulldog Invite the Blue Demons had three players named to the All-Tournament team. Mandy Moorberg and Amie West were named to the All-Tournament team after their outstanding performances. Moorberg had 52 kills, 29 digs and one block assist on the weekend. West had 157 assists, 29 digs one solo block and assisted on six blocks. West’s 157 assists on the weekend placed her number four on DePaul’s All-time career assist list. West now has 1,751 career assists.
The Bulldog Invitational also marked the first time that redshirt freshman, Ellen Hayes has been given tournament honors. Hayes was named the tournament’s most valuable libero. Hayes successfully got down on 39 digs during the tournament.
Lara Marks landed her name for the second time on an All-Tournament team. Marks was named to Blue Demon Invitaitonal All-Tournament team September 20th. Marks had 38 kills and 18 blocks in three matches.
Setting People Up
Junior Amie West has engraved her name into the DePaul history books with her “setting” performances this season. West has 603 assists this season and 1,942 career assists. 1,942 career-assists places her fourth on the Blue Demon career assist list.

Doubling Career Marks
On Saturday, September 20th junior Amy Holmes recorded her 53rd kill of the season. With that kill she doubled her career kill total. Holmes now has 106 kills in her career.

Sophomore Mandy Moorberg is having a break out year. With only 13 matches on the season Mandy has doubled and tripled her numbers from last season. Moorberg has tallied 160 kills this season while last year she only recorded 52. With a large number of kills comes attempts; Moorberg has tallied 447 attempts this season while only getting a chance at 273 last season.
100 Wins
Head Coach Dawn Dockstader is on her way to her 100th win as the DePaul head coach. After the Blue Demons defeated Illinois-Chicago on Tuesday, Dockstader compiled her 95th win. This is her seventh year as the DePaul head coach.
New Point System
In a new system adopted by the Conference USA volleyball coaches, each player accumulates points for kills, block solos and assists and service aces. To calculate a players total points, please use the following formula: Kills + Solo Blocks + Service Aces. (Block Assists count as ˝ point)
