Jahnke Leads Men's Track at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The men’s indoor track and field team competed in the Notre Dame Indoor Opener on Friday night in the Loftus Sports Center. DePaul was one of four teams competing joining host Notre Dame with Ball State and Loyola-Chicago. There was no team scoring at the meet.
Jarrod Jahnke was the top performer tallying a pair of second-place finishes. In the weight throw, his toss of 16.53 meters put him behind Notre Dame’s Juan Alba at 17.16 meters. Jahnke came back in the shot and placed second with a distance of 14.85 meters behind Ball State’s Jeremy Gillingham at 15.15 meters.
Siddiqu Muhammad also took second place in the 500-meter dash. His time of 1:04.93 was second in his section and the second-best time overall. He followed Notre Dame’s Trevor McClain-Duer who won in a time of 1:03.29.
Rashard Deleston place third in the long jump. His distance 6.52 meters was behind Godwin Mbagwu of Notre Dame and Jason Howard from Ball State. Mbagwu won the event with a mark of 6.73 meters.
The Blue Demons return to South Bend next Friday for the Notre Dame Invitational. Joining DePaul at the meet will be host Notre Dame, Michigan State and Marquette.
