Track and Field’s Championship Weekend Yields 37 All-BIG EAST Honors

DePaul posts record-setting performances en route to All-BIG EAST recognition
CHICAGO – 27 DePaul track and field student-athletes combined to earn 37 All-BIG EAST honors, the conference announced following the 2026 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Storrs, Conn. The All-BIG EAST Team consists of competitors who finished in the top three in any individual or relay event at the championship meet.
DePaul turned in one of the strongest outdoor championship performances in program history, as both the men's and women's teams secured runner-up finishes in the final standings. The Blue Demon women totaled 184 points for the highest team score in program history, while the men's squad recorded 168 points for its highest total since 2019.
The Blue Demons captured ten conference titles while delivering podium finishes throughout the lineup.
Sophomore Sade Miller highlighted the weekend by earning BIG EAST High Point Performer honors with 22.5 points. Miller swept the women's sprint titles in the 100m (11.55) and 200m (23.58) before helping DePaul secure gold in the women's 4x100m relay.
In the field events, Alex Bernstein continued his historic outdoor campaign with a conference title in the men's hammer throw, while Elena Opp claimed gold in the women's hammer to complete a DePaul sweep in the event. Jaiah Hopf added another title in the women's triple jump, while Helen Baumgarten and the quartet of Claire Dunn, Nevaeh Lowe and Sade Miller captured the women's 4x100m relay championship.
DePaul also closed the championships with a title in the men's 4x400m relay. The quartet of Christian Ortiz-Velazquez, Daniel Fasasi, Denhm Holt and Tyce Smith delivered gold in the final event of the meet to punctuate the Blue Demons' championship weekend.
Overall, DePaul's All-BIG EAST selections included 21 individual podium finishes across 15 events, while four relay teams also earned all-conference recognition to combine for 37 total honors.
