Blue Demons Fall to Cincinnati

CHICAGO- Cincinnati continued to heat up the Conference USA volleyball scene Saturday night, downing DePaul 3-0 (30-27, 30-20, 30-22) at the
“I am happy with the way my players came out in the first half of game one, they were intense and focused. We lost out focus in the second half of game one and never regained it back,” DePaul head coach Dawn Dockstader said.
The lead changed hands six times in game-one and the Blue Demons and Bearcats brushed off 15 ties before the
DePaul was unable to put the ball away in game-two, swinging 32 times, committing seven errors and connecting on only eight kills. The Blue Demons were able to pull within one at 14-15, but DuPont proved too much to handle. DuPont served for four straight points extending
Game-three followed the same pattern as the first two. DePaul was able to keep the game close and tied the score at 19 however,
“We saw a glimpse today and yesterday of how good we can be and I want my team to hold themselves and to demand a high standard and play. I have seen what they are capable of and I look forward to them bringing that intensity to the floor every match,” Dockstader added.
Senior Janet Goreham led DePaul with 10 kills and a .381 attack percentage. Defensively, Ellen Hayes had 12 digs for the Blue Demons.
The Blue Demons will return to action Friday, October 8, traveling to C-USA foe
