Men's Basketball Opens Exhibition Season with Win

CHICAGO – DePaul had three players in double figures as the Blue Demons opened the exhibition portion of the 2004-05 season with a 72-64 victory over Saint Xavier on Thursday at the DePaul Athletic Center.
Lorenzo Thompson led the Blue Demons with 16 points while Drake Diener added 14 and Jamal Nichols had 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Saint Xavier was led by Jason Reiter’s game-high 19 points while Phillip Watson added 14.
Both teams were cold from the outset as the Blue Demons held the Cougars to just 19-percent shooting (4-21) in the first half while DePaul shot just under 30-percent (11-37) and the Blue Demons took a 28-19 lead into halftime.
Both teams warmed up in the second half as they both shot just over 53-percent.
The Blue Demons will be in action again on Saturday, November 13 when St. Edwards of Texas comes the Athletic Center at 7:30 p.m.
