Blue Demons Drop Decision to Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. – DePaul went scoreless for nearly eight minutes in the late stages of the game and it cost the Blue Demons a victory as Northwestern came back from seven points down to win 56-52 on Wednesday at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
After Quemont Greer put DePaul up 47-40 with
DePaul (5-3) then put Vedran Vukusic at the free throw line, who hit two free throws to make it 53-50.
Drake Deiner had a chance to tie the game at 53, but missed a 3-point attempt with nine seconds left in the game. Northwestern then hit a free throw to ice the final.
Greer led DePaul with 20 points and had nine rebounds and Sammy Mejia added 17 points and six boards. They were the only DePaul players in double figures. Vukusic led Northwestern with 17 points while Michael Thompson added 12.
The Blue Demons will be in action again on Saturday when they entertain UIC at
Notes: Tonight was the fifth consecutive game that Quemont Greer has scored 20 or more points... the win snapped a two game DePaul winning streak and was the Blue Demons' final non-conference road game of the 2004-05 season... Northwestern's Vedran Vukusic won the Waldo Fisher-Frank McGrath Award as the game's Most Valuable Player.
