Women's Tennis Earns ITA Academic Awards

The seven DePaul players to earn the ITA’s Scholar-Athlete awards were sophomore Brenda Leung, freshman Gergana Ganeva, senior Karen Falduto, junior Marina Parashkevova, senior Natalie Matko, senior Stephanie Matko and freshman Petra Rehusova.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
Head Coach Mark Ardizzone’s team is one of 83 Division I squads to be tabbed on the ITA’s All-Academic team list. The Blue Demons as a team combined to post a 3.73 GPA during the 2003-04 academic year, the highest GPA of any team in any sport in Conference
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2003 and spring 2004).
DePaul finished the 2003-04 season with a 19-10 overall record and a perfect 6-0 slate in C-USA play.
