Volleyball Drops Match to UW-Milwaukee

CHICAGO – Despite freshman outside hitter Caitlin Callaghan's .316 attack percentage, the DePaul volleyball team fell to UW-Milwaukee 3-0 (30-16, 30-17, 30-21), Wednesday at the DePaul Athletic Center. The Blue Demons fall to 3-14 while the Panthers improve to 12-7 on the season.
The Panthers came into the
UW-Milwaukee's defense stymied the Blue Demon offense allowing just seven DePaul kills in game one. The Panthers won game one 16-30.
DePaul picked up their offense in the second game, hitting a match-high .200. Callaghan and junior outside hitter Morgan Ingersoll led the Blue Demons with five and four kills respectively, but the Panther offense was too much to overcome as they tallied a .543 team attack percentage and 21 kills. UWM won game two 30-17.
Freshman Libero Maureen Zigulich served up the Blue Demons first lead of the match in game three, registering a service ace to give DePaul a 13-12 advantage. The Blue Demons extended their lead to 17-15, but the Panthers went on a 7-1 run to pull the game and match out of reach. UWM won game three 30-21.
Freshmen setters Mandi Caputo and Rochelle Meulemans shared the setting duties, each recording 14 assists for the Blue Demons. Zigulich and Callaghan led the defense each recorded nine digs.
