Clark, Offensive Balance Powers DePaul Past Trinity Christian

DePaul finished the exhibition season with a 2-0 record. The contest was Trinity’s only exhibition game this season and the Trolls are 1-2 overall.
Along with Clarke’s offensive explosion, Draelon Burns tossed in 14 points while Wilson Chandler, Wesley Green and Rashad Woods each had 10.

Trinity was able to stay with the Blue Demons at the outset, jumping out to a 14-10 lead with 12:56 left in the first half but after a Woods jumper gave the Blue Demons a 15-14 lead with 12:23 remaining, DePaul never trailed again.
The Trolls were able to tie the game at 17 with 11:28 left in the first half but then DePaul went on an 11-0 run, keyed by five points from Clarke, over the next 2:13 to blow the contest open and take a 44-33 lead into halftime.
Clarke had 13 points and Burns 10 in the first half to key the Blue Demon attack.
The second half saw Trinity Christian hit nine 3pt. field goals but the Trolls were only able to get as close as six (44-38 with 18:57 to play) before DePaul’s balance took over. The Blue Demons continued to pull away and took their biggest lead of the game with just over a minute to play at 91-70.
DePaul committed just two turnovers in the second half and head coach Jerry Wainwright used every available player on the roster for the second straight game.
With the exhibition season in the books, the Blue Demons will open the 2005-06 campaign on Saturday when they entertain Bradley at the Allstate Arena. Game time is 1 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on WSCR (670 AM).
