Blue Demons Drop Season Finale

Senior outside hitter, Mandy Moorberg led the Blue Demon offense tallying eight of DePaul's 27 kills. The senior finishes her career as a member of the 1,000 Kill Club, registering 1,149 kills while wearing the Blue Demon uniform.
Villanova's (21-10, 8-6 BIG EAST) offense was hot from the first point and hit .236 for the match. Celine Nguyen led all players with 11 kills for a .370 attack percentage.
The Wildcats used a .306 attack percentage in the first game to blow past the Blue Demons 30-18. DePaul stayed close to Villanova in the early parts of the first set, but costly Blue Demon errors allowed the Wildcats to pull the game out of reach. DePaul offense was unable to generate any momentum as they hit -.059 in the first game.
The second frame proved to be the tightest and most exciting as there were 15 tie scores and the lead was exchanged 10 times. Stuck in a stalemate, for the majority of the match the Blue Demons took a 23-22 advantage on freshman setter Rochelle Meulemans dump over the net that forced Villanova to take a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Wildcats rallied off three straight points to collect a 25-23 advantage. The Blue Demons stormed back to tie the game at 26; but four Villanova kills in the final points allowed the Wildcats to win the game two battle 30-28. DePaul freshman Caitlin Callaghan led all players with five kills during the second frame.
After dropping a hard fought game two, the Blue Demons lost any momentum they gained and hit a dismal .000 on 31 attempts. Villanova was led by Kelly Ludwig, who had four of the Wildcats 15 kills in the final frame.
Two Blue Demons finished the day with double-digit dig totals, Meulemans led all players13 digs while Moorberg chipped in 10.
