CHICAGO – Following their Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, DePaul seniors Adam Hermsen and Robert Beard were named to the NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central Region teams. Hermsen picked up first team honors while Beard was named to the second team.
Hermsen was one of three midfielders on the 10-member first team. He led the Blue Demons in 2005 with 11 points on five goals and an assist. In his career, he finished with 22 points on eight goals and six assists to place him 24th all-time in scoring. He was also named to the ESPN The Magazine District V Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Director of America.
Beard is making his second appearance on the Scholar All-Region team. Following his junior season, he was also named to the second team. The defender finished his DePaul career with 70 matches played while starting 62 times. A cornerstone of the Blue Demon backfield, Beard started every match in his final two seasons in Lincoln Park.
Beard is the first DePaul soccer student-athlete to earn NSCAA Scholar All-Region honors twice in his career and holds a 3.77 GPA in Accounting/Finance. The duo of Hermsen and Beard represent the first time in DePaul soccer history that two players were named to the Scholar All-Region first or second teams. Hermsen is a Biology major at DePaul with a 3.71 GPA.
