Drake Diener Named C-USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year

CHICAGO – DePaul’s Drake Diener was named Conference USA’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s basketball for his outstanding athletic achievement, academic achievement and service. Of the 17 C-USA sponsored sports, he was the only unanimous selection. He also won the award as a junior.
Diener finished his DePaul career as the program’s all-time leader in three-point field goals with 216 and attempts with 526. His career .411 three-point percentage is tied for fourth among all shooters in school history. The 2004-05 campaign saw him set a single-season record with 85 trifectas. In four seasons at DePaul, Diener established himself as one of three players in school history two own multiple career school records and finished with 1,208 points.
Academically, he was a three-time member of the NACDA I-AAA Scholar-Athlete team and was named the I-AAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior. He was also a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V honoree.
Memphis, Tulane and UAB each produced three scholar athlete award winners, while Houston, Louisville, and USF each had two. Twelve of C-USA's 14 institutions produced at least one scholar athlete winner.
