CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball assistant coach Brandon Bailey has been selected to participate in the Silver Waves Media Elite 75 Future Head Coach Power Lunch. The prestigious invitation is extended to 75 coaches nationwide who have distinguished themselves in the basketball space as potential future NCAA Division I head coaches.
The Silver Waves Media Elite 75 Future Head Coach Power Lunch is held during Final Four weekend and features network opportunities with five of the top search firms in college athletics, along with athletic directors and senior administrators from across the country. Over the past two years, more than a dozen previous participants have gone on to earn NCAA Division I head coaching positions.
A 2009 DePaul graduate, Bailey is coming off his second season on Chris Holtmann's DePaul staff. Primarily responsible for DePaul's defense, Bailey helped lift the Blue Demons to new heights in 2025‑26, guiding the program to one of the top‑rated defensive units in the BIG EAST. DePaul held opponents to 69.6 points per game, ranking third in the conference and inside the top 65 nationally. It marked the fewest points per game allowed by DePaul in a season since 2009‑10. The Blue Demons defensive efficiency ranks 34th nationally according to KenPom as of March 18, a ranking that marks the highest in program history.
During his first season in 2024‑25, Bailey made an immediate impact, helping DePaul post an 11‑win improvement from the previous year — one of the largest single‑season turnarounds nationally.
Prior to returning to Lincoln Park, Bailey spent the 2023‑24 season on Holtmann's staff at Ohio State, where the Buckeyes ranked second in the Big Ten in blocked shots (4.6 per game).
Bailey also brings 10 years of NBA experience with the Boston Celtics organization. He joined the franchise in 2011 as a video coordinator before serving as head coach of the Maine Red Claws, the Celtics' NBA G League affiliate, during the 2017‑18 and 2018‑19 seasons. In 2019, Bailey joined Brad Stevens' staff as an assistant coach with the Celtics, a role he held for two seasons, before serving as an assistant coach with USA Basketball during the 2021‑22 cycle.
Bailey began his coaching career at DePaul as a student manager under Doug Bruno with the women's basketball program before working as a graduate assistant and director of operations with the men's basketball program from 2009‑11.
