Blue Demons Fall in Final Exhibition Match

CHICAGO – Playing for the first time on the recently completed Wish Field, the DePaul men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision in their final exhibition match of the preseason. The Blue Demons open the 2005 campaign at the Holiday Inn City Centre Classic in Peoria, Ill., next weekend.
Matt Blouin finished the match with a goal and an assist to lead the Golden Eagles. He scored the eventual game-winner at 12:28 before assisting the final score of the afternoon by Duncan Silvert-Noftle at 66:27. In between those two goals, Blair Kohlmeyer scored off an assist by Mike Carlson.
Lucas Zicher played the first 80 minutes with three saves while Brian Visser played the final 10 minutes. Marquette outshot DePaul, 12-6, in the match while taking seven corner kicks to five for the Blue Demons.
The Blue Demons finish the exhibition portion of the schedule with a 2-1 record and take on Bradley next Friday night in the Holiday Inn City Centre Classic. On Saturday, the Blue Demons take on Western Illinois.
