CHICAGO – The DePaul volleyball team breaks from league action for the final time this season, traveling to the Southside to take on
Chicago State, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Jacoby Dickens Athletic and Physical Education Center.
The Blue Demons (4-16) are perfect in their series with Chicago State, winning all eight matches in the series dating back to 1983. DePaul won the 2005 meeting 3-0 and hit .223 while holding the Cougars to a .080 attack percentage. The Blue Demons registered 53 kills with senior Ellen Hayes pacing the squad with a .400 attack percentage and 16 kills in 2005.
DePaul enters the match after one of its best blocking performances of the season, out blocking Marquette 11.5 to 9.0 blocks on Sunday. Junior Stacy Pando leads the squad at the net this season and has recorded 53 of the Blue Demons 114 blocks. Offensively, senior Morgan Ingersoll averages a team best and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST with 4.10 kills per game. Ingersoll tallied 38 kills last weekend in DePaul's 3-1 loss to Syracuse and 3-0 loss to Marquette.
The Cougars are off to a rough start this season as they have yet to record a win in 20 tries. Chicago State is led offensively by Jessica Khouri, who has tallied 126 kills this season.
The Blue Demons return to BIG EAST action on Friday at Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. (CST). The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CST) and will be televised live on Comcast Local in the South Bend area.
