SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- Sammy Mejia celebrated his 100th game in a DePaul uniform by scoring 22 points to help the Blue Demons to an 89-81 victory over Rhode Island Saturday.
DePaul (6-5) built a double-digit lead early in the first half, and Mejia helped keep it that way. Three times in the second half,

DePaul made 13 of the first 16 shots it took in the game. That accuracy helped DePaul build a lead as large as 42-23 after a 3-pointer from Heard with 3:36 to play.

The victory was DePaul’s first road win of the season… the Blue Demons improved to 6-5, the first time this season DePaul has been over .500 and have won four of its last five games… today was also DePaul’s final non-conference road game of the season… Mejia moved into 27th place on DePaul’s all-time scoring list with 1,174 points, passing Lance Williams... DePaul shot .667 from the field, the highest since the Blue Demons went 41-for-66 (.621) in a win over Syracuse on March 2.
