The Blue Demons sailed to victory behind the impressive all-around play of junior middle blocker Stacy Pando. The junior registered nine kills for a .294 attack percentage, three digs and a season-high five service aces.
DePaul's balanced attack was obvious as they registered a .227 (36-16-88) attack percentage and held the Bulldogs to a -.069 (24-31-102) percentage. The Blue Demons also notched higher dig and block totals in the match. Senior outside hitter Morgan Ingersoll posted nine kills while Deane Gibson posted a team high .462 (7-1-13) attack percentage. Defensively, senior Ellen Hayes and freshman Sarah Cullen registered 11 digs apiece. Gibson led the Blue Demons at the net with five block assists while freshman Emily McGinnis, Caitlin Callaghan and Hayes, each chipped in two block assists.
The first game saw the Blue Demons and Bulldogs fight threw eight ties and two lead changes. Tied a 16, DePaul went on a 9-3 run to put the game out of reach. During the point swing, five different Blue Demons registered kills. Gibson put the exclamation point on the game, registering a block assist to give the Blue Demons their 28th point and her kill gave the team their 30th point and the game.
DePaul's offense continued to dominate as they sailed through games two and three with ease, defeating the Bulldogs 30-14 and 30-16.
The Blue Demons were explosive at the net in game three, notching a sizzling .579 attack percentage. Gibson and Ingersoll each notched four kills and zero errors.
