Track and Field Continues Indoor Season at Carthage

CHICAGO- The DePaul men’s and women’s track and field teams continue their indoor season this weekend at the Division I Invitational in
Senior Jamie Holifield enters the women’s weight throw and shot put after setting a school-record mark of 18.49m in the women’s weight throw at December’s Grand Valley State Invitational. She is joined in both events by senior Sara Polensky, junior Tammy Burris, and freshmen Ebonie Cobb and Virginia MacFabe. Burris, Holifield and MacFabe have all surpassed the BIG EAST Championship qualifying distance of 15.25m in the weight throw this season.
DePaul is represented by a trio of freshmen in the men’s throwing events as BIG EAST qualifiers Curtis Hoag and Brad Millar are joined by Ian Ianakov. Hoag looks to better his season-best shot put mark of 15.26m while Millar competes to improve his qualifying weight throw distance of 16.82m. Ianakov enters both events for the Blue Demons.
In sprinting events, the women’s 200m dash fields six DePaul athletes, as seniors Mary Hodges and Courtney Grand Pre are joined by sophomore Stephanie Williams and freshmen Shauna Lurey, Ivy Moffett and Lauren Rajski. The women’s 55m dash brings sophomores Kyra Coffey and Jessica Rodriguez together with Hodges, Rajski and Williams.
Sophomore Gabe Vargas enters the men’s 55m dash seeking a qualifying time of 6.58, having already secured a ticket to the Championships in the 200m dash during the season opener. He is joined by senior Mark Kliethermes, junior Kwaku Attoh, and freshmen Kevin Devitt, Jason Goldman and Joseph Strawder.
The women’s distance events place a duo of seniors, Kelly Cunningham and Carrie Moffett, together with freshmen Terah Cheatham and Reda Josifi in the 3,000m run. Freshmen Cassey Lynn and Sabrina Petri join Josifi to represent DePaul in the women’s mile run.
The Blue Demons also compete in the women’s 55m hurdles, men’s mile run, men’s 3,000m run, men’s and women’s 400m dash, men’s and women’s 800m run, men’s and women’s 4x200m relay, men’s and women’s 4x400m relay, and men’s and women’s long jump.
