DePaul Men's Soccer Earns First NCAA Championship Bid

CHICAGO Following a regular-season BIG EAST title, the DePaul men's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2007 NCAA Championship and faces the Bradley Braves in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 24. The Blue Demons, making the first appearance in program history, are one of seven BIG EAST teams to get into the NCAA Tournament. Saturday's winner advances to the second to take on fourth-seeded Indiana on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
DePaul enters the tournament at 12-7-0 after reaching the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship last weekend. The Blue Demons dropped a 2-1 decision to Notre Dame who is the 10th overall seed in the 48-team NCAA field. Three of the top 16 seeds in the tournament are from the BIG EAST with Connecticut at No. 3 and West Virginia at No. 15. Louisville hosts Duke in the first round while USF hosts Colgate and Providence travels to Old Dominion.
Bradley earned the Missouri Valley Conference's automatic bid by defeating Creighton, 1-0, on Sunday in Omaha, Neb. The Braves are 14-5-3 overall and are making their fourth NCAA appearance. Bradley holds a 4-1-2 advantage in the all-time series with the last meeting on Sept. 2 in Peoria as a 2-0 win for the Braves.
