John Kornfeld Named to All-Tournament Team

CHICAGO DePaul midfielder John Kornfeld was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team after the conclusion of the league's championship on Sunday. Kornfeld led the Blue Demons to the semifinals before DePaul dropped a 2-1 match to Notre Dame on Friday. Connecticut won the league tournament with a 2-0 victory over the Fighting Irish on Sunday in Storrs, Conn.
With DePaul's strong showing during the regular season and the BIG EAST Championship, the Blue Demons are anticipating the program's first NCAA bid. The 48-team field will be announced on Monday afternoon on ESPNews. The field will be revealed between 4:30-5 p.m. CT.
The NCAA appearance will be the first for men's soccer at DePaul. The Blue Demons stand at 12-7-0 and won the BIG EAST Red Division after being picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll. First-round matches in the NCAA Tournament will be either Friday, Nov. 23 or Saturday, Nov. 24 at campus sites. In each of the last two seasons, the BIG EAST has sent a conference-record seven teams to the NCAA Championship.
