DePaul Cruises in Exhibition Tune-Up

CHICAGO DePaul had six players score in double figures as the Blue Demons rolled to an 83-59 victory over Trinity Christian in both team’s lone exhibition game of the season on Friday at McGrath Arena.
Dar Tucker led the DePaul with 16 points while Draelon Burns and Will Walker each added 14. Karron Clarke scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds while Mac Koshwal and Matija Poscic each had 10 points.
Trinity Christian was led by Kurt Gruppen’s game-high 19 points.
The Trolls took a quick 2-0 lead to open the game before DePaul reeled off seven straight points and never looked back. The lead continued to grow throughout the half and the Blue Demons took their biggest lead at 40-24 into the locker room at intermission. Burns led the Blue Demons with 12 points in the opening stanza.
The second half was much of the same as DePaul continued to push the advantage steadily throughout the period. The final margin of victory (24) was the Blue Demons’ biggest lead of the evening.
DePaul outscored Trinity Christian 28-8 in the paint and caused 24 Troll turnovers which led to 20 points.
The Blue Demons open the regular season on Friday when they travel to Creighton for a 7 p.m. contest. The game will be televised in the Windy City by CLTV and broadcast on WIND (560 AM). The home opener is slated for November 17 when Northwestern comes to the Allstate Arena for a 1 p.m. contest.
Game Notes: DePaul is now 5-0 all-time in exhibition games under Jerry Wainwright, including a 2-0 slate against Trinity Christian... the Blue Demons are 16-0 all-time at McGrath Arena, including 1-0 in regular season games... this will be the second straight season that DePaul will open the regular season on the road against a Missouri Valley Conference team (at Bradley last season).
