Women's Tennis Falls to Western Michigan

CHICAGO– The DePaul women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 71 Western Michigan on Friday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. Dunja Antunovic and Anja Mihaldinec delivered a pair of singles victories, but the Broncos took the doubles point and four singles matches.
Antunovic gave DePaul a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Carrie Jeanmarie in the No. 1 singles match. With the win, Antunovic improves to 7-1 in dual singles action and is a perfect 4-0 when playing in the top match.
The fifth singles flight saw Mihaldinec win the first set, 7-5, before Western Michigan’s Ashley Moccia fought back to take the second set, 6-2. Mihaldinec prevailed in the tiebreaker to give DePaul its second point of the night.
The Blue Demons came up short in all three doubles matches. Beatrix Csordas and Petra Rehusova lost the No. 1 flight to Noriko Saruta and Moccia by default, while Antunovic and Mihaldinec fell, 8-6, to Kerstin Pahl and Priyanka Parekh in the second match. The third flight saw DePaul’s Kirsten Gambrell and Bojana Murisic drop an 8-3 decision to Emily Dudzik and Jeanmaire.
