Allie Quigley Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

CHICAGO – DePaul junior Allie Quigley was named first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District by CoSIDA on Thursday. As a member of the five-player first team for District V, she is eligible for the Academic All-America recognition.
Quigley was joined on the Academic All-District first team by Laura Rudolphi of Indiana State, Valparaiso’s Betsy Rietema, Lori Bjork of Illinois and UW-Green Bay’s Amanda Popp. District V consists of schools from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, and Ontario and Manitoba in Canada.
The junior guard holds a 3.8 grade-point average and is a Physical Education major at DePaul. A year ago, she was named the NACDA Division I-AAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a second team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honoree. As a team, DePaul was ranked No. 11 in the WBCA Academic Top 25 and holds the distinction of the nation’s only program with a top 16 finish on the court and in the classroom. The 2005-06 squad also reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Championship.
Quigley averages 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this season while shooting .363 (41-113) from three-point range. She ranks among DePaul’s all-time leaders in three-point field goals (t3rd-180 3pt. FG’s), three-point percentage (4th-.396), free throw percentage (6th-.808), three-point attempts (6th-454 3pt. FGA’s), scoring (13th-1,318 pts.) and scoring average (10th-14.8 ppg). With 19 more assists, Quigley will be the first player in school history with at least 1,300 points, 300 assists and 150 three-pointers.
DePaul travels to Notre Dame this weekend for a Sunday afternoon game at the Joyce Center. Tipoff is set for 5:40 p.m. ET on ESPN2 as part of ESPN’s “February Frenzy.”
