Vroom Adds Two National Weekly Honors

CHICAGO In addition to being named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, DePaul’s Steffen Vroom was selected to the Soccer America Team of the Week and the CollegeSoccerNews.com Team of the Week. It is the second time in his career that he has been named to both of the weekly national teams.
Vroom totaled two game-winning goals and an assist in wins over USF and Cincinnati last week. He scored the game-winner in the 69th minute to lead DePaul over No. 11/10 USF on Oct. 7 before assisting the first goal and scoring the second in the 42nd minute on Oct. 11 in the 2-1 victory over the Bearcats.
Vroom leads the BIG EAST with four game-winning goals this season and all six of his career goals have been difference-makers in DePaul victories. He was named to the Team of the Week by Soccer America and CollegeSoccerNews.com in 2007 after scoring the game-winning goal in DePaul's win over Cincinnati in the BIG EAST Championship First Round.
The Blue Demons host Loyola-Chicago Wednesday at Wish Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Following the match with the Ramblers, DePaul travels to Syracuse for a Saturday night game before hosting St. John’s on Oct. 25.
