Peter Sterbenz Named to BIG EAST All-Tournament Team

CHICAGO - DePaul junior Peter Sterbenz was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team after the conclusion of the league's championship on Sunday. Sterbenz led the Blue Demons to their second straight semifinal appearance with wins over Pittsburgh and St. John’s. DePaul dropped its match in the semifinals, 2-0, to St. John’s. USF won the league tournament with a 1-0 overtime victory over the Red Storm on Sunday in Tampa, Fla.
The Blue Demons stand at 9-7-4 and finished third in the BIG EAST Red Division. They were picked to finish fourth and knocked off top 10-ranked USF during the regular season. In the BIG EAST quarterfinals, the Blue Demons went on the road and posted a 1-0 win at No. 16 Connecticut and finished strong with a 7-3-2 record in the final 12 matches of the season. The Blue Demons await a potential NCAA Championship bid on Monday evening. In each of the last three seasons, the BIG EAST has sent a conference-record seven teams to the NCAA Championship.
