CHICAGO DePaul junior forward Steffen Vroom was recently named to the Great Lakes Region third team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He is the third DePaul player to earn All-Region honors and the second in the last two seasons.
Vroom led the Blue Demons this season with 10 points on four goals and two assists. All four of his goals were game-winners as he tallied the deciding score in wins over Columbia, Seton Hall, USF and Cincinnati. In the wins over USF and Cincinnati, Vroom totaled two goals and an assist to earn NSCAA National Player of the Week recognition and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors. He was also named to the Team of the Week by both Soccer America and CollegeSoccerNews.com. Earlier in the season, he picked up All-Tournament honors at the Marquette Invitational.
The Blue Demons finished the season with a trip to the BIG EAST Championship Semifinals for the second straight season. DePaul was 9-7-4 overall and finished third in the BIG EAST Red Division with a 5-4-2 conference record.
Vroom joins Brian Visser and Patrick Vyncke as the only DePaul players to earn NSCAA/adidas All-Region recognition. Vyncke was a third team honoree for the Midwest Region in 2003 and Visser earned third team Great Lakes honors in 2007.
